  1. Hannah Altman: The film "In God We Trust" has a unique, interesting, and somewhat confusing plot that captured my attention. The idea of a man being sent to hell from all the little bad things he did in his life, but escaping for a second chance. He is then brought back to life, only to be attacked by the people in charge of death controlling what is happening in his life by trying to kill him again. Throughout the film, the man does good deeds, which brings his negative score down, giving him the ability to go to heaven next time. The overall plot was different and told a clever story. The title In God We Trust, which is shown at the beginning and end of the film on a quarter, had a symbolic meaning to the events that are happening. To me, the moral of the story was that all little bad things can equal up to big bad things, which can in this case, send you to hell; so everyone should just do everything with good intentions and avoid being a bad person. This has been my favorite film so far, and the point of view shots that were captured were brilliant. For example, the ice cream melting, the dead bird on the fence, etc. The director of this film did a wonderful job and told an original story. A+

  3. Dillon Owen: In the film " In God We Trust," I was immediately captured by the visuals of the spinning globe which in return actually becomes the earth and the extreme close up of the "In God We Trust," on the quarter as the title. The story follows Bobby, a man who inadvertently solidifies his spot in Hell. We follow Bobby through his death, escaping his sentencing for a second chance, and through his death again. The editing is phenomenal. The director doesn't try to give too much exposure to the subject. Everything is mostly balanced. The key element in this is the actual story telling and character development of Bobby. The director also uses elements of foreshadow. For example, "Sway" is incorporated into the short before we even realize that Bobby will enter a salsa class. Bobby goes through a series of unfortunate events but he manages to change a long the way, earning his spot in the kingdom of Heaven. This is a great short!!

  4. Kristofer Pearce: The video "In God We Trust" was really good I enjoyed it but I do feel like the beginning was a little too rushed. I really wanted them to flesh out why he thought he dated the sectary. I enjoyed the overall story, I felt it was very well written and its highest value to me was the editing. With the beautiful shots in slow motion from the ice cream till the coin at the end.

  5. Angie Bartelt: "In God We Trust" was a very interesting short film that seemed slightly similar to a long public service announcement for random acts of kindness. Cinematically there were many good uses of slow motion shots, as well as good use of lighting to depict the location perfectly for each scene. The location changed quite often, as our hero literally ran from death, but the overall feel of the movie was very well plotted out as well as very well filmed. Except for the "hell office," everything about the hero's life seemed bright and promising, which I believe added to the film's tone.

  6. Meredith Anderson: “In God We Trust” had a very Hunger Gamesque/ Brain in the vat theory thing going on here with the control center and the people who controlled it. I thought it was really comedic and well written. It speaks truth to what many feel could actually happen on “judgment day.” Everything was really cohesive and worked to the other’s advantage to help create a good short film. I think it was able to tell a really great story.

  7. "In God We Trust" was a very interesting short film about setting the wrongs right. The first part was a little bit confusing. However, after he started atoning for all of his sins it quickly became apparent where this film was going. It had a great amount of comedy that kept the story interesting and me wanting more. I think what really made this story is the story itself and how well written it was. The camera work was really well done. The had great uses of hard and soft focus as well as depth of field. The angles that they chose worked really too. The edits for the action scenes were really awesome. For example when he jumped through the girls window or when the quarter was bouncing into the homeless guys cup. All in all, this short was really impressive and unique.

  8. I enjoyed this short, i thought the story was really cool and i liked the how it started with the hand spinning the globe, and then the zoom in on the quarter. I thought the story did a good job of keeping you interested. I thought it was funny how they were trying to kill him before he got a positive score. The quarter bouncing into the homeless mans cup at the end was great too. I enjoyed this short, from the camera work to the script.

  9. Will Wendel: I found this short to be very inspiring and insightful. The concept of the film is very interesting and also profound. The character winds up in some form of purgatory only to learn that he must go to hell because he did not have enough points to go to heaven. We then learn that he's not all that bad of a man and can relate to many of the things he's done in his life, a lot of little bad things. Im sure that most people agree that this does not deserve eternal damnation. The director uses the words "In God We Trust" printed on a quarter to show that God ail always have our back because he is the real one to decide what happens in the afterlife. God interferes with the purgatory process to assure that this man goes to heaven which he eventually does at the end of the film.

  10. This short reminded me very much of the Adjustment Bureau, in a way. Smart idea, very 90s/2000s. But it was done right, and that's all that matters, right? Wonderful shots, especially while freeing the bird, although the audio was a bit jittery. A bit of cheap dialogue, but the story was there so thats all that matters. The ending gave me chills as well. Smart moves, and good writing. I just wish they would shave his sideburns a bit, and get a better t shirt but what the hell. Loved it all the same, and again: wonderful music choices. Smashing in Living La Vida Loca was a nice touch as well.
