  1. Hannah Altman: Our Deal is one of my favorite music videos of all time. I love this film so much and all the meaning it has behind it. The overall concept of the film is not only played through the lyrics of the music, but also through the events that are taking place. It’s a beautiful disaster. The filming techniques that were used to create the film were just brilliant. Great point of view shots are captured- from over the shoulder, to shots/angle of the brick wall. The film was very well directed and had an intense emotional appeal. Almost makes you want to cry when you get to the end. It’s inspiring to say the least.

  2. "Our Deal" is a short film that will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I can't speak for everyone but I saw the ending coming a mile away. Other than that, this video had a lot of cool aspects. It seemed very retro, though it was made in 2011, the cast seem to have some what of an 80's feel going on. That might just be my opinion but either way I liked it. I also enjoyed the contrasts of light and dark, and having the two different gangs coming out in the different times. The choreography of the fight scene was really awesome I enjoyed the mix of dancing and fighting. The camera work and editing was great I especially enjoyed the scenes of the LA river. I wasn't crazy about the song but it was a good video.

  3. Will Wendel: This film had a lot of familiar faces in it which made it very fun to watch. The concept was pretty predictable but it was very well made and flowed nicely even though it went from scene to scene with song changes. A boy and a girl from two different rival gangs fall in love and start spending time together. The girls gang represents the night and the boys gang represents the day. When the two inevitably clash, the girl asks the boy if he wants to run away together. She misinterprets him and accidentally kills him even though he wanted to run away with her as well. The fight scene was more like dancing than fighting which I thought was a very brilliant and creative idea. It was just a little predictable but the fact that the actors only communicated through writing was very entertaining.

  4. Why do music videos these days try and add on to a story already established? It's deriving from West Side Story which derives from Romeo and Juliet. Its a sad story, and its been over done. There are better ways to display love than this and yes, its tasteful, and yes its colorful, but its boring. Overdone. And no theme can save that. I liked the music, I liked the filming, I liked the editing. But the story dug its grave by trying to prove creativity and failing miserably.

  5. Dillon Owen: The most important aspect of film making is passion. Drew Barrymore has that and proves it with her work. I love the how the story is set through the song being played at the beginning and we go through this romantic journey and it tragically ends with the introductory song. A foreshadow in a sense. I see other people's view on here and I agree that some things can be overdone. However, it is the DELIVERY that makes something new again. Drew's use of foreshadow, color, and musical score kept the story interesting. I enjoyed her as a cameo in her own work. It gave off an eighty's vibe to me as well. Overall, very well done.

I really enjoyed the musical storytelling in "Our Deal." It made it very light and endearing, while the acting and storyline were a litter darker and intense. I wasn't so into the interjection of scenes with text telling us what was coming up next. The music and acting gave it away enough and the prompting of "what's next" distracted me. The videography was amazing. I definitely didn't expect MTV's name to be attached to such a work. A wee bit of faith was restored in MTV today.

  7. Although the plot and concept were very generic, having stars that were recognizable made Our Deal very fun. The music was lovely, and really set a retro chic tone to the entire piece. Another great example of use of natural light in a film, something I really enjoy watching. Happily surprised to see MTV was behind an actual piece of art, thanks Drew Barrymore.

  8. I really enjoyed this grease and west side story mash up story. I love the costumes and the feel of this movie. The overall film gave me a scoot pilgrim vs the world type feel. With the indie sounding music in the back ground and active dancing never a moment standing still. I also enjoyed the acting no words just action.
