Will Wendel: The story of Aaron burr is a truly tragic one and the director did a good job making you feel emotional for his story. Dana O'Keefe really pulled in the audience and captivated them with the story. The narrator drew in the viewers attention and held on to it. This short makes you wonder about history and what we do and don't really know about it. I really loved the parking lot scene and the mixing of technologies. It made the story more relatable and gave it a really cool spin.
Hannah Altman: Aaron Burr, Part 2 presented history in a way that was dynamic and entertaining. It had a sophisticated mix of interpretation and imagination through the merging of different styles and tones. The overall feel of the film is music driven and was very well made. I enjoyed the twist of humor it had, which made the film different and amusing. It uses highly composed shots and things that aren’t typically seen in a documentary while making one question which version of history is accurate.
Dillon Owen: Wow. What a story! I loved the visuals of mixing the past with modern day. The use of cell phones in messaging cracked me up. It opens your eyes even if it is a comedy. We choose to believe what we hear more than what we discover ourselves. The best of the short in my opinion is the stroll down New York as Burr comments about how he missed the old New York as it showed it in present time. It really hit home for a nostalgic feel and the Film Noir type tone shined through. Great short!
To create this documentary requires a more intelligent mind then I. An a bugatti. Very well done, great song choice, and interesting integration of modern times to this profound history of our "fair" nation.
This was very entertaining and stimulating. A story I have never heard, on either side, so I was interested to see the outcome. I liked how the film told both sides of the story and chose to reenact both scenarios. The switching back and forth from still life portraits to action was quite unique and while at times it can be visually unappealing, this film did a fine job and I didn't hate it.
This was maybe the most interesting movie we've watched thus far. I throughly enjoyed this neat history lesson. It took me rewinding it a few times to get all of it but I really enjoyed this movie. The music choice was superb. Every instrumental was amazing. The acting was great but what stole me was the editing. They reused a lot of shots but how it was cut it didn't bother me or bore me like repeated shots usually do.
